Hastelloy C-276 alloy is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten alloy with an addition of iron that demonstrates superior corrosion resistance compared to other nickel-based alloys. It demonstrates excellent resistance in a variety of harsh chemical and industrial environments including those with strong oxidizers such as ferric and cupric chlorides, hot contaminated media (organic and inorganic), chlorine, formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, and seawater. It provides excellent resistance to pitting and stress-corrosion cracking. Hastelloy C-276 has a specific heat of 0.100 BTU/lb/°F, an elongation of 45%, a melting point of 1370-1443°C, a magnetic permeability of 1.002 (H=100 Oersteds), and a density of 8.69 G/cm3.
