Hastelloy Alloy, also known as W.N.R.2.4819 or N10276, is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy which contains high levels of molybdenum and chromium to provide superior corrosion resistance in a wide range of severe environments. It is widely used in the chemical process industry due to its excellent corrosion resistance and superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. The alloy is especially resistant to sulfuric and phosphoric acids, organic acids and other non-oxidizing media. It also has outstanding resistance to oxidizing acids such as nitric acid and hydrochloric acid. Hastelloy C-276, a version of the alloy, is the most widely used alloy due to its excellent corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, and good fabricability.
